Beautiful Savior participates in various outreach ministries. We reach out with the news of Christ's salvation, and serve our community and world as an expression of His love.
Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML) is the official women’s organization of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. It has over 250,000 members. The LWML focuses on affirming each woman in her relationship with Christ to enable her to be in ministry among the people of the world. For over 65 years, the organization has been encouraging and equipping women to live out their Christian lives in active mission ministries and to financially support global missions.
Beautiful Savior's LWML is a very active group of volunteers who meet on the second Saturday of each month from September through May. The meetings include breakfast, a Bible study or presentation, reports, Mite offering, and prayer. We do about ten local service projects through the year, some that benefit BSLC members and others benefiting local agencies such as the Idaho Food Bank, Chrysalis Women's Transitional Living, River of Life, and the Boise Rescue Mission. All women are encouraged to join us. For more information, contact Kathryn Norton.
The Beautiful Savior LWML Society is in the Western Zone of the Utah-Idaho LWML District.
Nestled in the Sawtooth Mountains National Forest, Camp Perkins is a place where the Holy Spirit is at work. Camp Perkins hosts over 3000 guests annually through a variety of summer programs and year-round retreats. People of all ages come to take advantage of the 11 wood-heated cabins and the adult and family Retreat Center with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Come to Camp Perkins for an unforgettable Christian camping experience.
Camp Perkins is owned and operated by thirty-five Lutheran congregations located in southern Idaho, Utah, and Oregon. Beautiful Savior appoints a delegate to help elect the Camp Perkins Board of Directors. Beautiful Savior members support the camp with funds and advertise its programs and retreats. Many BSLC children and youth have gone to Camp Perkins, and some have become counselors. Members are also encouraged to help with the Camp Perkins work camps.
Project Linus volunteers provide gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need. With the help of our volunteers, Beautiful Savior has been able to donate hundreds of blankets to children in need over the past several years. We receive funds from Thrivent Financial to help provide the supplies to make quilts for children who need a hug in the form of a blanket. Project Linus volunteers meet each month on the third or fourth Saturday (watch your bulletin), working from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. We are always looking for more volunteers, and no experience is necessary. Contact Ruth Volkert or Carol Ahrens if you have questions.
Boise Rescue Mission
Beautiful Savior members have collected food for the Boise Rescue Mission since 2004. The large barrel in the church hallway becomes filled with food in about three months. Members are encouraged to bring canned and packaged food to put in the barrel.
