Please join us at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church on Oct. 3 for “Becoming the Grief Informed Church” seminar, featuring thanatologist and grief educator Becky Oswald. The seminar intends to equip our communities of faith to become counter-cultural in our grief avoidant society”

Speaker

Becky Oswald is a Grief Coach and Educator. She holds a Master of Science in Thanatology from Edgewood College, a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Education from Trinity Lutheran College, and a Death and Grief Studies Certification from the Center for Loss and Life Transition.

“I have a passion for coming alongside those who are grieving, to support and equip them with tools to turn their grief into mourning as they learn to integrate grief into life.Until I was 39 years old, grief was something that was not even on my radar. That changed when I became a widow. My husband died 4 years post diagnosis of sarcoma. After his death, I struggled with my grief, and helping my 3 children through their own grief journeys. We attended a peer grief support group, and it was there I learned being a Thanatologist was a real thing. I didn’t know exactly what it was, but I knew it was my calling. I threw myself into the study of grief and loss, and came to an understanding of my calling to support others in their grief journeys. Not only that, but I also felt a strong calling to educate others about what grief really is, and how to walk alongside the bereaved.
